Home Sweet Home Part 2

THE next day Renee woke up and walked to the dresser to see if everything she had experienced in the past twenty-four hours was real or a dream. Tanwen wasn’t in there. Renee sighed in relief. “It must have all been a dream.”

“But if it was all a dream, how would you explain getting home?” Tanwen startled Renee, causing her to jump.

“What? I didn’t see you.”

“Yeah, I went on the couch for the rest last night. I appreciate the hospitality, but that cotton wasn’t comfortable for me. The lavender smelled unreal.” Tanwen complained.

“OK. We can go by the store today after meeting Beulah. You can pick out fresh lavender and real cotton to sleep on.”

“Thank you.” Tanwen hugged Renee. “But also, we need to talk before leaving.”

“I’m all ears.” Renee adjusted herself on the bed.

“So, I spoke to my kindragon, an authority figure or ancient relative that oversees what we do. She agreed with me. Abstracts haven’t been seen in a long time, so that wasn’t who was behind the attack. Now, if it comes back and you are defenseless, you will more than likely be killed or worse. For whatever reason, it is after you. While we find out what it is and why it wants you, you need to start training.” Tanwen’s tone became serious. “I am warning you, and it’s up to you to heed my warning.”

“Worse? What fate is worse than death? Does your kindragon have any idea what attacked me? Nothing new just happens overnight. It had to take time and serious planning especially since it happened after I discovered who I am. Could it be a personal enemy of my mother’s? Or maybe the other two leaders disguising themselves as something else just to attack or kill the thing my mother could potentially love the most? I thought you were my illuminated esse. Where are you going if I must train? Also, where would my training take place?” Renee had so many questions. And she was still in her pajamas, hadn’t brushed her teeth or washed her face. Not exactly how Renee had pictured approaching this situation.

“You already made clear your feelings about the university, so we may have to inform Beulah about the severity of your situation, and she may find a place for you to train privately. Yes, I am your esse; however, Beulah would be best fit as your trainer since she can teach you faster and quicker than I can; her nickname is Brutal Beulah. She will be able to show you how to fight without your powers, and how to use your mind to create the things you need to protect yourself and others. Beulah wouldn’t be able to train you based on your water element, just how to control them and to do that you have to be physically and mentally strong. You have the height, what was your current height to now?

“I was four foot twelve. Now…” Renee step to the wall where she marked her height measurements.
